The effect of authentic leadership style on the job performance of faculty members of Allameh Tabatabai University with the mediating role of social self-efficacy

Abstract

Since the faculty members of universities and higher education institutions are responsible for teaching and disseminating science and knowledge in the university, and the quality and development of knowledge depends to a large extent on the performance of these members, therefore, investigating the factors affecting their job performance is vital. Is. On the other hand, faculty members can learn about how other factors affect their job performance and take action to increase the quality of their activities. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of authentic leadership style on the job performance of faculty members of Allameh Tabatabai University with the mediating role of social self-efficacy. This research is an applied research in terms of its purpose, and a descriptive-survey research in terms of data collection. The statistical population of this research is all the faculty members of Allameh Tabatabai University of Tehran in the number of 545 people and the size of the statistical sample is 226 members based on Cochran's formula. A questionnaire was used to collect data. Questionnaire criteria to measure the authentic leadership style variable from Avolio et al. (2006) adapted from Biranvand et al. (2018), social self-efficacy variable from Grieve et al. (2014), And the job performance variable was from Bontis Vesrenko (2007) adapted from Nowshad (2013). The validity of the questionnaire was done through confirmatory factor analysis and factor loadings, and the overall reliability of the questionnaire was obtained by determining the Cronbach's alpha coefficient equal to 0.902. In order to analyze the data, the method of structural equation model and partial square was used and spss 22 and lisrel software were used. The results of the research showed that authentic leadership style has a positive and significant effect on the job performance of Allameh Tabatabai University faculty members with the mediating role of social self-efficacy. Authentic leadership style by providing a strong strategy based on values and beliefs, through the mediating role of social selfefficacy, will strengthen people's self-confidence and help to achieve better job performance of faculty members.
