Abstract

Given the changing and evolving conditions of the current world, how organizations are guided and led to effectively deal with the emerging conditions of their interactive environment is considered one of the most important key indicators of their success; in this regard, one of the most important leadership styles that is suggested for management in these complex and changing conditions is the use of ambidextrous leadership. Therefore, the purpose of this descriptive-correlational study was to design and validate the ambidextrous leadership scale. The statistical population of the study was the managers of Shiraz University, who were selected using simple random sampling method, and accordingly, 200 university managers were selected as a sample. SPSS25 and Amos24 software were used to analyze the data. After examining the face validity of the scale, first and second order confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the factor structure of the ambidextrous leadership scale in universities. The results showed that each of the factors (two factors of exploratory behaviors and exploitative behaviors) and their components (17 components) have high validity for explaining ambidextrous leadership. The Cronbach's alpha result of the instrument, which was 0.87, also showed that this scale has high reliability. Accordingly, university administrators can use this tool to assess the level of ambidextrous leadership style in universities.
