Abstract

This study aims to examine the approved documents and organizational structures (approved organizational charts of universities) related to diversity and its management within the administrative and organizational systems of educational and university organizations in Iran. This research was conducted through a case study of relevant documents and structures of domestic universities affiliated with the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, and interviews with managers and staff in the organizational affairs department during the years 2023-2024. Using Cohen's Kappa coefficient (80%) for the agreement of two researchers on data accuracy and studying what is claimed, as well as examining written documents on the websites of each university and interviewing experts and managers working in the organizational affairs department to obtain more supplementary data. To determine the validity of the research, data related to documents and structures that had been approved by the Board of Trustees and were approved by official university legislative bodies were selected as valid and readable documents. The results showed that, in general, the organizations of most of the studied universities had structures related to 7 diversity factors, and the factors of geographical expansion, international affairs and language learning, and affairs of the disabled had the most organizational structures compared to other factors. By analyzing the similarities and differences in the existing structures, it was determined in which dimensions of diversity the country's universities had the highest frequency and which dimensions had the lowest frequency, which requires the attention of managers and policymakers in higher education in those dimensions.
