Semantic implications of competence of knowledge and research managers in administrative organizations; Qualitative analysis of managers' experiences

Abstract

The present research has been conducted to identify the competence of academic and research managers. A qualitative approach of interpretive phenomenology was used to conduct the current research. The purpose of the research is to provide a competency model for academic and research managers in administrative organizations. In terms of the purpose, it is applied research because its results can be used directly in administrative organizations. The participants are managers and experts in this field. They were invited to an interview by sequential and purposeful sampling until theoretical saturation was reached .The criteria for their selection was having deep management experience in various administrative departments. Finally, for this purpose, the results of the research were presented from the interviews conducted with experts and experts in the field of research management and experienced managers of knowledge and research in administrative organizations, using the method of thematic analysis. For this purpose, the researchers ensured the transmission (external validity) of the research as much as possible by following the work steps and obtaining detailed parallel information. In order to increase the reliability of the research tool, validation or review by the interviewees was used. After the interview, the data were categorized and analyzed in the inductive coding process and based on thematic analysis using NVivo 10 software. Five overarching themes. It could be calculated that it includes concepts; There were cognitive competencies, value competencies, knowledge competencies, moral competencies, managerial competencies, and finally communication competencies.
